Volunteers must complete an online Creating a Safe Environment course, sign a Code of Conduct, and have a criminal record check run before beginning their volunteer service. These certification components must be redone every 3 years.  Volunteers over the age of 70 do not need to re-take the online component, but will need a new criminal record check every 3 years.

FOR ADULTS:

Step 1: Go to the safe environment training web site: https://dor.safeenvironment.org

Step 2: Click the "CREATE NEW ACCOUNT" button to register. Complete ALL information on the registration page. Click the "Create my new account" button to create your account. Click the "Continue" button to confirm your account and enter the training site. 

Signing the Code of Conduct is part of the online training. Click here to view the Volunteer Code of Conduct for Adults.

Step 3: Take the "Recognizing and Preventing Child Abuse" course.  Click the green "START" button to begin.  Navigate through the pages with the gray arrows on the right side of the screen.

Step 4: Fill out the form below.

Step 5: You will be sent an email with instructions on submitting your information for a criminal record check.

Step 6: Once your record check is complete, you will receive a Volunteer card from Elizabeth or your ministry supervisor.  You are now ready to volunteer!

FOR YOUTH UNDER 18:

All training must be done in person.  Please contact your volunteer coordinator.
